A lot of our Scottsdale clients tell us the best part of coming in is how personable our team is during treatment. The best way to protect that work afterward is simple: hydrate hard for the first 48 hours and avoid heat and alcohol. Those two things, dehydration and extra inflammation, are what tend to bring on more swelling and slow down the drainage your body needs.
Cavitation, RadioFrequency, and Laser Lipo sessions are typically about 30 minutes, but your results keep developing long after you leave. Most immediate side effects settle in 1 to 3 days. Visible changes usually build over 2 to 6 weeks, especially when you stay consistent with aftercare and follow-up sessions.
Quick rule for North Scottsdale heat: If it’s July and you’re stepping outside into desert heat or monsoon humidity, plan on extra water and keep your body temp down for two full days.
First 24 to 48 hours after Cavitation + RF + Laser Lipo: the do’s that matter
Think of the first two days as “support your lymphatic system” time. Cavitation and laser lipo are working on fat cells, and RF brings controlled heat into the tissue to help with tightening. Afterward, your job is to help your body clear what it needs to clear without adding extra irritation.
Do this right away
- Drink extra water all day and the next day. If you’re in Scottsdale summer heat, add another bottle or two.
- Keep movement gentle. Easy walking is great. It gets things moving without spiking inflammation.
- Eat normally, but don’t go heavy on salty foods for the first day. Salt tends to hold water, and you’ll feel it.
- If your specialist recommends lymphatic support, follow that plan. A light, directional lymphatic-style massage is usually more helpful than deep pressure right after body contouring.
Avoid this for 48 hours
- No alcohol. It dehydrates you and can make swelling linger.
- No saunas, hot tubs, or steam rooms. Extra heat can be too much after RF and can leave you puffy.
- Skip intense workouts and heavy lifting. We generally recommend waiting 48 to 72 hours, or until any tenderness settles.
- Avoid long, hot showers. Lukewarm is your friend for a day or two.
If you’re planning your week: schedule your treatment so you have 48 hours before you hike McDowell Mountain trails or return to a long golf round. You’ll protect your results and you’ll usually feel better doing it.
Days 3 to 7: when swelling drops and inches start to feel “real”
By day three, most people feel pretty normal. This is when we want you to stay steady, not swing hard into heat and high intensity. Scottsdale desert weather can fool you because you feel dry, not sweaty, but you’re still losing fluid fast.
Keep water up. Keep walking. And if you’re itching to get back to the gym, start with lighter weights or lower impact cardio first. If you notice the treated area feels more tender or looks more puffy after a workout, that’s your cue to back off for another day.
Skin care for treated areas (simple wins)
- Use a gentle cleanser and moisturize if the skin feels dry.
- Avoid aggressive scrubs or harsh actives on irritated skin.
- Sun protection matters. If the area will be exposed, use SPF and try to avoid direct sun for the first week. Sun plus heat can keep you inflamed.
This is also the week where consistency starts paying off. Our Cavitation, RadioFrequency, Laser Lipo combo is designed to help sculpt and tighten, and it’s often chosen for targeted areas like the stomach and thighs. Staying out of hot tubs and keeping workouts reasonable for a few extra days can make your results look cleaner, not just faster.
Products and habits that protect your Laser Lipo recovery between sessions
You don’t need a complicated routine after body contouring. A few steady habits tend to do more than a cabinet full of products.
Hydration plus electrolytes (especially in North Scottsdale)
If you’re golfing near Grayhawk or spending time outside, plain water is great, but adding light electrolytes can help you stay ahead of headaches and “puffy” feelings. Keep it simple and don’t overdo sugar.
Gentle self-massage and light movement
Light walking most days helps. If we’ve recommended any lymphatic support, stick with that style of pressure. Deep tissue soreness is not the goal right after cavitation or RF.
Steady nutrition that supports inch-loss
Aim for regular protein, fiber, and lower alcohol. We’re not asking for perfection. We’re keeping inflammation down so your body can show the work we just did.
When to reach out to AZ Laser RX (and how we handle questions)
A little tenderness, mild swelling, and “I feel it when I press on it” sensations can be normal in the first few days. Most of that settles quickly, especially when you hydrate and stay out of heat.
Reach out if you notice:
- Pain that’s getting worse instead of better after day one or two
- Skin that looks unusually irritated, blistered, or feels very hot to the touch
- Anything that makes you nervous or unsure about your next step
"Jamie was awesome. Explained everything about the procedure and made me feel at ease. She even made herself available after hours to answer a couple of questions I had."
